Dante in the city: The father of the Italian language

A stroll around the city to discover the places dear to Dante Alighieri.

This walk will take you back in time at the end of the Middle Ages when Florence was one of the largest and wealthiest cities in Europe. The tour will begin with a visit inside Santa Croce church, which housed Dante’s cenotaph, will continue in the area where he lived, studied and played during his childhood. Later, we will visit Piazza Duomo to admire the Baptistry where he was baptized and will end in Piazza della Signoria, famous for the Palazzo Vecchio, Old Town Hall Palace. Did you know that Dante was proclaimed priore and had the opportunity to live in such a beautiful Palace? Do you want to have a look at his funerary mask? Let’s follow me and we will walk where he walked seven hundred years ago.
