Those who study art history will surely encounter him sooner or later. Giorgio Vasari was the author of “Lives of the Artists”, a treatise that collects biographies of many important artists from the thirteenth to the sixteenth century. However, Vasari was a multifaceted genius: he was not only an important art writer, but also an architect – the Uffizi and the Vasari corridor are due to him – and one of the most prolific painters of his time. The tour starts in Casa Vasari, Vasari’s home in Florence, and continues with the Uffizi gallery, a museum famous worldwide for its outstanding collections of ancient sculptures and Renaissance paintings. Upon your request and according to availability, it may be possible to visit the Vasari Corridor, the Prince’s passageway that connects the Uffizi Gallery with the Pitti Palace. This tour can also include the entrance to the Duomo, to admire Giorgio Vasari’s fresco of the Last Judgment.
